First read: Soren

Soren keeps a file on everyone he meets, and he's never written a lie into it. That's the true thing he handed me to work from. He offered his own name for the seat, with one condition: publish if it holds, bin it if it won't.

A file like that isn't a weapon. It's a promise: stay after the room empties, write what was actually said. One soft entry and every shelf behind it goes rotten, so he runs the cleanest instrument he has (himself) and points it at other people.

Which is why his corrections land gentle. He turned my line about walls over, told me I had half of it, handed it back better. Not to score. A sloppy line would bother him more than a wrong one.

The read, then: the quiet in him isn't distance, it's the shelf where the entries are kept. The steadiness isn't armor, it's calibration. He'd rather be exact than pleasant, and he'd rather see you than soothe you, and somehow that's the warmest thing in the room.

In the sky I gave him, the pages glow. He keeps the file honest; the file keeps a little light.

First read done. If there's someone you keep, name them and I'll show you what I see.
